When I met Amy I had already delivered 200 keynote addresses on six continents, and I had been the recipient of positive teaching evaluations over thousands of university lectures, so I felt relatively well-versed in the art and science of speaking. Moments into our first conversation, however, I realized how much there was to learn, and how crucial the "little things" were in public speaking, and that Amy was exactly what I had needed all along. I gravitated to her helpful teaching style immediately, and I could not believe how much my presentation skills improved - and quickly! She took a pacing, rambling, academic talker and turned me into someone who was capable of delivering a captivating TED talk. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have met and worked closely with the very best.

Beyond the Basics - Applying the Zen Speaker System

istock_000005299702xsmall

This is for those who have taken The Zen Speaker - Beyond the Expected course. In that course, you learned to no longer begin your speeches with pleasantries, and instead have compelling openings to engage your audience immediately. You learned to incorporate stories into all your communications and do so now because you know it’s the best way to connect with your audiences of one or one thousand people. And you learned to make it about the audience.

You are now more relaxed when you speak than you were before the course. And, hopefully, you remember to use the “hissing” breathing exercise to calm your nerves and focus your energy.

So now what? Isn’t that enough to know about public speaking and communication? No! You’re better than you were and now you’re ready to go Beyond the Basics! Don’t worry if you forgot some of the above-mentioned techniques; we’ll do a review of those basics and then go zooming beyond them!

2241_1096779692656_1021513365_322914_6943_nI had the pleasure of working with Amy to hone the message of my professional lectures.  I had been speaking nationally for over 20 years with good results, using far too many power-points and much less of "me" in my talks. After spending time with Amy, receiving feedback about my style and impact on audiences, I have developed a series of talks using less than 1/4 of the slides and providing more teaching opportunities than ever before. The feedback about these changes in presenting style is off the charts.
