Amy Ayoub Appointed to National Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities
Las Vegas, NV - Amy Ayoub, a Las Vegas-based public speaking and presentation skills coach, has been appointed to the national Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities. Her appointment was made by Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada), and approved by Congressional Record on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
"Because child abuse and neglect fatalities is such a critical issue, I applaud Congress for passing the Protect our Kids Act and creating this commission,” says Ayoub. “ I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners to recommend a coordinated strategy to protect our most vulnerable citizens. I will be reaching out to the experts who have dedicated decades to tirelessly helping abused and neglected children, for their input and guidance regarding current programs and prevention efforts. I am honored for the opportunity Senator Reid has given me to bring my own life experience, and what I have learned through my previous professional efforts to what I hope will be an effective solution for the children who need us."
Ayoub has been active in the fight to prevent child abuse and neglect. On February 20, 2013, she testified in front of the Nevada State Assembly and Senate judiciary committee, using her personal story in support of Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto's Assembly Bill 67. The Bill, commonly known as the sex trafficking bill, seeks to increase penalties for those convicted of sex trafficking.
Ayoub will join 11 appointed members across the country as part of the Protect Our Kids Act (H.R. 6655) passed by Congress in 2012. The Commission is charged with holding hearings and gathering information about current federal programs and prevention efforts. They will issue a report to Congress and the President to recommend a comprehensive national strategy to reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect fatalities nationwide. By law, the Commission must issue their report within 2 years.
